We’ve all been there.
There are days I don’t know what to do with myself and usually end up glued to my phone mindlessly scrolling and still bored to tears.
So, what can we do to take the boredom out of the day and do something a bit more fulfilling?
These ideas will not only help reduce the feeling of being bored but are also inclusive of your self-care routine.

Read A Book
This is one of my favorite ways to relieve boredom and escape to another world.
Reading may not be for everyone but if you’re looking for a good replacement for watching tv, pick up a book.
Not only is reading a great way to pass the time but it’s also proven to have benefits on both your physical and mental health.
Create Your Life Blueprint
When was the last time you thought about what you wanted out of this life?
Start planning out the life you want on paper. Write out the things you want to accomplish, what you want your future to look like, and/or create a vision board.
Creating a blueprint of your life can help you pass the time and gives you something to look forward to for the future.
Coloring and doing crafts isn’t just for kids, get your creative juices flowing.
Color in an adult coloring book, Follow a bob ross painting tutorial or try your hand at origami.
Rearrange Your Space
Get your feng shui on by rearranging your space.
Whether you add more decor to your place or move everything around, it will be an easy way to beat boredness.
Do a Photoshoot
Get dressed up and try some creative photoshoots just because!
Or if you aren’t willing to be in front of the camera, take photos of things around the house, plants outside, or the scenery.
Play A Boardgame
Yahtzee! Playing board games isn’t a past time family ritual and in fact, is a great way to spend the time and have fun.
Blow the dust off that old Pictionary box and enjoy your time with the ones you loved all while kicking their a** in a good old fashion board game.
Try A New Recipe
Take out seems like it’s a part of the daily routine am I right?
Why not try a new dinner recipe tonight? This will help you boost your skills in the kitchen and feel accomplished once dinner is done.
Write It Out
Feeling bored? Start writing. And if you’re not sure what to write about, just brain dump your thoughts.
You don’t have to write a novel. Just let go of stress and boredom by just writing about your past, thoughts, ideas, or feelings.
Take A Course
Been wanting to try a new hobby or skill? Bypass the boredom by taking a course online through youtube or other skill learning websites.
This is the perfect time to do the things that usually involve the phrase “When I get a chance”.
Dance It Out
You might be thinking, “I don’t dance.” But if you are by yourself, no one will know you are dancing. So let loose every once in a while.
Dancing is like a form of therapy. It relieves the stress, boredom, and gets your body moving.
Do A Quick Workout
If you’re bored, do a quick workout.
A brisk walk around the block or a 15-minute workout is perfect for feeling productive and will boost your energy for the day.
Create A Wishlist
What are the things you want? Where do you want to go? What do you want to do?
Write it out! Create your wishlist and with no limits.
Learn A New Language
If you’re bored, learn how to say I’m bored in another language!
Lol JK but seriously try learning a new language. There are free fun apps like Duolingo that will teach you the languages you’ve been wishing to speak.
Get A Plant To Nurture
Don’t be the only one nurturing yourself, get a plant to be a part of your self-care routine.
Put your thoughts in caring for some plants and learning how to keep them healthy and alive.
Get your stretch on!
If you’re bored, do your muscles a little favor by stretching. Try some yoga or some simple stretches to do every single day.
Affirmations are so great at cultivating good habits, thinking patterns, and more.
It’s simple, effective and can make an impact on how you feel positively.
Get In Touch With Family or Friends
Calling your loved ones is a great way to stop feeling bored.
And after your conversations, you will usually be left feeling good.
Pass the time by managing the subscriptions on email, programs, products, and more.
Go through your emails and unsubscribe from those pesky newsletters you subscribed to for that 15% discount that one time.
Or if you are still being charged monthly for a service or product you don’t even use, unsubscribe. You could be saving money by doing this alone.
Listen To A Motivational Podcast
Sometimes when we are bored it can make us feel down. Listen to podcasts that will help you feel good and motivate you.
There are all types of podcasts that you can listen to to help pass the time.
Collect Stuff To Donate
Have clothes, movies, cd’s, that you don’t use anymore?
The last thing we want is to be like the people on hoarders, let that sh*t go.
Go through your house and look through everything, start bagging up the things you have no use for anymore, and donate to your local thrift store.
Listen to An Audiobook
If you’re still not on board the reading train, give audiobooks a try.
You don’t have to do anything but plug in those headphones and listen to a captivating story that will help you escape for the day.
Create A Morning Routine
What’s your morning routine look like? If you’re bored, revamp your morning routine so you start your day off great.
Create A Night Time Routine

Unclutter Your Phone
Like decluttering your home, you can do the same for your phone.
Rid your contact list of the people you know you won’t ever contact again, Go through photos and delete the duplicate or bad quality ones, and/or Delete the unused apps.
When you have nothing to do, It’s the perfect time to unclutter your phone.
Dress Up For No Reason
Nowhere to go and nothing to see, get dressed up anyway.
Try that new hairstyle or makeup look, put on your favorite outfit, and feel good.
Update Your Finances
Sometimes we don’t want to go and look at the damage from our last shopping trip. But if you want to save more money start by looking at what you can do to help it.
Learn to start being on top of your accounts and budget where it’s needed.
Give Yourself A Facial
Spa day anyone? A good facial is a great way to relax and beat being bored.
Put on that facemask and refresh your skin.
Make A Gratitude List
What are you grateful for? Start writing out the things you are thankful for.
By doing this, you will feel happier and give you a good perspective on life.
Spend Time Outdoors
Don’t want to be inside? Open your door and step out.
Spend time soaking up the sun or going on a little walk.
Do Nothing & Just Relax
The feeling of boredom is from doing nothing, but mainly because you feel the need to be doing something.
Let go of the thought of needing to be productive and learn to just enjoy doing nothing.
Take time to just breathe and be in the moment.
Being bored can be the enemy of anyone who wants to do something but doesn’t know what.
This list of ideas is just a few ways you can easily beat boredom and enjoy your day. Not to mention they are perfect additions to your self-care routines.
