Make Your Bed
For as long as I can remember, I would never make my bed in the morning.
I don’t know why but I just wouldn’t make it unless I was cleaning my room which wasn’t often if I’m honest.
When I was reading ‘The Power of Habit’ by Charles Duhig, he talks about how the simplicity of making your bed makes more of an impact on your day.

It seemed easy enough but the habit of not making my bed was much stronger.
Until one day, my cat had an accident in the middle of my bed that I didn’t see till I went to bed that night.
Let’s just say, I created the habit of making my bed every morning very quickly.
Even though there was a bit of motivation behind making my bed, I did notice that it felt good to see my bed in order and knowing that I don’t have to worry about what it looks like by the time I get home.
This can do the same for you (without the motivation from a crapping cat) when it comes to setting up your day.
Readout Your Goals Every Morning
I talk about goals a lot in my posts and if you’re a long time follower, you might just have a set of goals for yourself already.
If you do, I challenge you to read out your goals every morning.
I do this every single morning and every single night.
There is something about saying the goals that always help you keep them in mind. And as they say, whatever you focus on you will get.
This is a great way to start your day and motivate you to be more productive.
Dress for The Day
You’ve heard the term “Dress for Success” but have you ever thought why?

I know the feeling of just wanting to put on your leggings or yoga pants and a comfy shirt or sweater.
But wanting to make my day intentional I started to get ready in a cute outfit that made me feel good!
And the truth is, it does make you not only feel good but feel productive for the day.
It’s kind of a weird thing but it is said to be scientifically proven!
So put on the outfit you feel best in and get your day started right!
Stay off Social Media
A huge killer of productivity is social media.
Unless your work revolves around social media, it usually doesn’t serve us when we need to get things done.
Raise your hand if you’ve spent a great amount of time just scrolling through social media?
*Raises Hand* I have and sometimes still do.
So if this is something you do and want to be more productive the simple answer is to…
Put your phone somewhere far away from you.
This will guarantee that you will stay off your phone and help you stay focused on your task at hand.
List out Your Must-Do’s For Productivity
If you find yourself overwhelmed with everything that you need to do and don’t know what to start, the best thing to do is make a to-do list!
I am the type to get overwhelmed easily. So by writing out my to-dos, I feel:
- I get more clarity of what needs to be done
- I’m more motivated to get things done
Remember, you don’t have to do everything all in one day. Spread out your to-do’s throughout the week and have your big tasks (or harder tasks) at the top of your list.
Reward Yourself At The End of the Day
When all is said and done and you’ve conquered the day with productivity, reward yourself!
I believe it’s important to reward yourself and give yourself some recognition for the things you’ve accomplished.
It not only will make you feel good but it will motivate you to continue to stay productive.
